I just donated to a political candidate for the first time ever

I didn't think the day would ever come where I would make a donation to a political candidate.  For the first time ever there is a candidate about whom I feel so passionate that I was willing to make a donation.  Ron Paul please use my $25 well.

Prior to the 2008 presidential elections I had not heard of Dr. Ron Paul but I remember hearing about how "crazy" his positions where and how no normal person could possibly vote for him.  I accepted these statements as truth, I failed to question, I failed to think critically.  At the time I couldn't fathom that anyone could be against the Federal Reserve - absurd they do such a good job managing our money.  Further, who could possibly want to return to a gold standard of money?

Fortunately over the last 4 years my eyes have been opened.  Now I wonder how someone could not vote for someone who has been so consistently correct in his warnings over the years who does not vote based on who made the most recent campaign contribution and who does not change positions depending on which way the wind is blowing.

The problems facing our country today have only gotten larger over the last few years regardless of whether a democrat or a republican was in office.  As a country we do not need more of the same, we need a true leader.  We need a contrarian thinker - someone who can think outside the box and who isn't afraid to stand for personal freedom and liberty.

2001 video where Ron Paul predicts the housing crisis (see the 3:10 mark).

2002 video with predictions on the Middle East and the economy.  His comments read like 10 years' worth of newspaper headlines.

Astonishingly these are just 2 videos among many that I could have chosen.

As Dr. Paul promises - a $1 trillion reduction in the federal budget in his first year of presidency and a balanced budget within 3 years.  I truly believe that Ron Paul is the best person to lead the United States of America.  He has a proven track record, unwavering commitment to his beliefs, and an amazing ability to see how the of actions today will impact our world tomorrow - and even more amazingly for a politician he is willing to speak up even when it is not the easiest and most expedient option.
